I was born in 1959 in the Baptist Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee. I grew up in Memphis near Getwell and Quince.
EDUCATION: I attended Sherwood Elementary School in grades 1-6. In 7th and half of 8th grade I went to Sherwood Junior High. Mid-way through 8th grade I went to Elliston Baptist Academy. I graduated from Elliston in 1977.
CHURCHES: I grew up in Cherry Road Baptist Church. While at the Naval Academy, I was a member of Heritage Baptist Church in Annapolis, Maryland. While my wife and I were in Charleston, South Carolina, we were members of Northbridge Baptist Church. We then moved to Woodbridge, Virginia, and joined Lakeridge Baptist Church. When we moved to Cordova, Tennessee, we joined Bellevue Baptist Church .
SCOUTING: I was in Troop 272 of the Boy Scouts of America. Troop 272 was sponsored by Cherry Road Baptist Church. While in Troop 272, I obtained the rank of Eagle Scout with Bronze, Silver, and Gold Palms.
SPORTS: In 7th grade I was on the swimming team. In 12th grade I was on the track team. While at the Naval Academy I participated in sailing, soccer, and the prestigious sport of fieldball.
NAVAL ACADEMY: I was in 4th Company. I majored in Electrical Engineering.
