He married (1) MARY UNKNOWN Abt 1725 in Prince George County, Maryland. He married (2) HANNAH UNKNOWN Abt 1739 in Maryland. He married (3) ABIGAIL TERRELL Abt 1773 in 96th District, Union County, South Carolina. Notes: Member of church in Rockville, Maryland, 1727. Rockville in present Montgomery County formed 1776 from Frederick County, which was formed in 1748 from Prince Georges County. Was in South Carolina by 1752. Was in Maryland in 1751. South Carolina was originally divided into four Colonial Counties, one of which was Berkeley County. In 1765 South Carolina was divided into seven districts, one of which was Ninety-six District out of part of Berkley County. 96 District was comprised of the Union and Spartanburgh Counties. ABSALOM5 WOFFORD (WILLIAM4, WILLIAM3, WILLIAM2, WILLIAM1) was born 1752 in 96th District, South Carolina, and died June 02, 1833 in Jackson County, Georgia. He married HANNAH WOFFORD 1773 in 96th District, South Carolina, daughter of Absalom Wofford and Sarah Hosey. Notes: Absolom Wofford married his first cousin, Hannah, a sister to the "Spartanburg Five" brothers. Absolom enlisted on June 15, 1777, as a private in the 1st Regiment of the South Carolina Continental Line during the Revolutionary War. He served with the 1st Regiment under Major Daniel Plummer, Fair Forrest Militia, Ninety-Six Brigade, in Captain Shadrack Lantrey's Company of men who went to Orangeburgh, SC with Lieutenant Colonel John H. Cruger. Absolom was a 'private' in the unit. He transferred August 1, 1779, to the 6th South Carolina Regiment, in Captain John Buchanan's Company, under Lt. Col. William Henderson. He was captured in 1780 by the English. He was released from their custody on July 1, 1781, when he was transferred to the 3rd South Carolina Continental Regiment. He was discharged later in the same year. He served honorably in the American Revolution and is officially listed with the "Daughters" and "Sons of the American Revolution." In about 1800-03, Absolom and Hannah made the move to "Wofford's Settlement" in Georgia and then on to Jackson County, Georgia.
