1. JAMES TAYLOR1 FOSTER was born November 11, 1848 in Kentucky Bend, Obion County, Tennessee, and died March 16, 1920 in Ridgely, Tennessee. He married (1) MATILDA JANE BROWN January 25, 1876 in Enroute to Texas. He married (2) SALLIE MOORE March 30, 1902, in Lake County, Tennessee. He married (3) FLORENCE MOORING September 18, 1912 in Lake County, Tennessee. He married (4) ANNIE MORRIS Abt. 1918. "At age 28 James left Kentucky Bend and went to Texas. On the way to Texas he met Matilda Jane Brown, who was traveling to Texas with her grandfather, grandmother, and brother, John D. Brown, who was 11 years old. They traveled in covered wagons. Matilda had to work at a spinning wheel from five to seven times a day. She spun and wrove lindsey cloth for clothes. She married Mr. Foster at the age of 14 years, after her grandparents gave their consent. They stopped at Waco, Texas, where they made their home for a short time before settling at Atlanta, Texas. Mr. Foster drove a team of oxen from Waco to Fort Worth which took him three months." "Mr. Foster sold his interest in the timber and lumber business in Atlanta, Texas, to Mr. Ed Rand, who built the Marx building in San Antonio" Mr. Foster and his wife with six children came to Tennessee in 1895. They took a steamboat from Memphis to Tiptonville, Tennessee." "Mr. Foster bought a 100 acre farm at Horn Ridge, Tennessee. No school building was here at that time and Mr. Foster built the first one-school-room building." "Several buildings are still here (Ridgely, Tennessee) that Mr. Foster built. Mr. P.F. Imlow built the First Baptist Church in 1911, to which Mr. Foster gave liberally. Mrs. Foster's funeral was the second one held in First Baptist Church, December 8, 1911." BERT3 YARBRO. ii. TOMMY YARBRO. 4. HOUSTON RICE2 FOSTER (JAMES TAYLOR1) was born January 24, 1905 in Ridgely, Tennessee, and died March 26, 1980 in Memphis, Shelby County, Tennessee. 5. ELVA3 FOSTER (NORMIE RIVERS2, JAMES TAYLOR1). She married HENRY DAMON HEADDEN 1922. Child of ELVA FOSTER and HENRY HEADDEN is: i. DAMON RIVERS4 HEADDEN, b. December 17, 1926, Ridgely, Tennessee; d. July 03, 1958. He graduated from Ridgely High School in 1944, entered Columbia Military Academy in Columbia, Tennessee, in 1944, and the University of Tennessee at Knoxville, where he gratuated in 1949. He served as an enlisted man in the army from 1951 to 1953. He was appointed to Lake County Quarterly Court in 1953 to fill the unexpired term of his father, Damon Headden. He followed in his father's footsteps, serving on the court until his death July 3, 1958. He served three terms as Lake County representative to the Tennessee General Assembly. During the past two sessions he served as administration floor leader in the House. He was charter member of the Legislative Council. 6. BERT3 YARBRO (PAULINE2 FOSTER, JAMES TAYLOR1). ROBERT HOUSTON3 FOSTER (HOUSTON RICE2, JAMES TAYLOR1) was born in Memphis, Shelby County, Tennessee. He married DOROTHY ELAINE MCDANIEL August 18, 1951 in Memphis, Shelby County, Tennessee, daughter of JOSEPH MCDANIEL and MARY GRANTHAM. Children of ROBERT FOSTER and DOROTHY MCDANIEL are: i.
